Ben E. King (R.I.P)

Benjamin Earl Nelson, más conocido como Ben E. King (Henderson, Carolina del Norte, 28 de septiembre de 1938-Hackensack, Nueva Jersey, 30 de abril de 2015), fue un cantante estadounidense de soul y pop.
Especialmente famoso en la década de 1960, era el intérprete de la versión más conocida de «Stand by Me» (de la que era coautor con los productores Jerry Leiber y Mike Stoller), un éxito en los Estados Unidos en 1961 y 1986, y en el Reino Unido en 1987. Desde F&A rendimos homenaje a otro de los grandes que se nos fue D.E.P.

Subimos un concierto con su inseparable colega Gary US Bonds, es de audiencia pero suena muy bien.

Grateful Dead - 03-22-1987 - Hampton

Grateful Dead se formó en la época en la que grupos como los Beatles y los Rolling Stones dominaban el panorama musical. La estrella consolidada de la escena de folk Bob Dylan había editado recientemente un par de grabaciones de instrumentación eléctrica. Los componentes de Grateful Dead han mencionado que fue tras acudir a un concierto del grupo neoyorquino de "folk-rock" The Lovin' Spoonful que decidieron "pasarse a la eléctrica". Gradualmente, muchos de los músicos de folk de la costa este americana, se estaban decantando hacia la eléctrica. Era natural que Jerry García y Bob Weir, que estuvieron inmersos en el revival de la música folk americana de finales de los 50 y principios de los 60, estuvieran abiertos a las guitarras eléctricas. Pero la música de Dead era también distinta en esencia de la de grupos como Dylan, Byrds o los Spoonful, en parte porque su socio musical Phil Lesh procedía de un entorno de escuela clásica y electrónica, mientras que Ron "Pigpen" McKernan era un amante incondicional del blues negro profundo y el batería Bill Kreutzmann procedía del jazz de vanguardia. Escuchando su primer LP (The Grateful Dead, Warner Brothers, 1967) producido por Dave Hassinger, se percibe que fue grabado sólo unos años después de la moda de la "surfing music", en la cuál el sonido del rock de California se rezumaba.

LYNYRD SKYNYRD HAMBURG 1974 (BOB BURNS R.I.P.)

El baterista Robert “Bob” Burns de Lynyrd Skynyrd murió en un accidente automovilístico el 3 de abril de 2015, segun el portavoz de la Patrulla Estatal de Georgia. Burns, de 64 años, murió después de que su coche chocara contra un buzón de correo y un árbol, ocurrió poco antes de la medianoche. Burns ayudó a formar Lynyrd Skynyrd en 1964 con Gary Rossington y Larry Junstrom permaneciendo hasta 1974, aunque según algunas versiones dejó la banda por un tiempo durante la década de 1970.

Este setlist tambien cuenta con un tema que no suele ser usual "In the Real World" del album "Stereotomy" recordemos cantado en el album original por el grandisimo John Miles.

El álbum, titulado Machine Head, es lanzado en marzo de 1972 y se convierte en su disco de estudio de mayor éxito comercial. Contiene varios de sus himnos más reconocidos como la hiperpopular «Smoke on the Water», «Highway Star», «Space Truckin'», «Lazy» o «Pictures of Home».
Monstruosas giras y conciertos en vivo se suceden, tocando durante 44 semanas seguidas, y sólo siendo superados por sus homólogos Led Zeppelin. Machine Head es un álbum tan completo que cada uno de sus temas ha sido ejecutado en algún concierto de Deep Purple, a lo largo de los años.

Todo un pelotazo de la gira del "Revenge", album que...... bueno, no estaba mal, bastante pasable o lo mejor que habían hecho de un tiempo a esta parte. Tocaron creo que un total de nueve fechas, si mal no recuerdo, (una vez mas hablo de memoria, y mi memoria ya no es la de antes, jejeje!!), en Buenos Aires, y esta es una de ellas, en breve subiremos algunas de las otras fechas.
