Noveno álbum de estudio de Scorpions, publicado en 1984 en Europa a través de Harvest/EMI y en los Estados Unidos por Mercury Records.
El éxito del disco se debió en gran parte a la extensa radiodifusión de sus canciones, sobre todo de «Rock You Like a Hurricane» y de «Still Loving You», que se han convertido en unas de las más representativas de la banda. Esto les abrió las puertas a las listas musicales de otros países como Suiza, Austria y Nueva Zelanda. Por otro lado y al igual que algunos de sus anteriores trabajos, su portada fue censurada en ciertos mercados, ya que algunos distribuidores de la época no querían ponerlo en sus estantes por considerarla obscena.

El 10 de diciembre 2007, tuvo lugar el concierto benéfico en memoria del ejecutivo musical Ahmet Ertegun, fundador de Atlantic Records. El plato fuerte del concierto fue la reunión por vez primera en 27 años de la formación original de Led Zeppelin, con Jason Bonham, hijo del fallecido John Bonham a la batería.
La banda interpretó dieciséis canciones, incluyendo dos bises, mostrando un amplio espectro de canciones a lo largo de su carrera ante 18.000 afortunados fanes. Las entradas fueron sorteadas por internet a través de la página web del concierto y alcanzaron las 20 millones de peticiones en todo el mundo. En el repertorio hubo dos canciones que por primera vez la banda tocó en vivo en su totalidad, "Ramble On" y "For Your Life". Muchas de las canciones fueron tocadas en un tono menos de lo normal, con el fin de acomodarlas al actual rango vocal del cantante Robert Plant aunque algunas se mantuvieron en su clave original. A finales de agosto de 1989 arrancan la gira Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle Tour conjuntamente con el lanzamiento de Steel Wheels y de su primer corte «Mixed Emotions», una referencia parcialmente biográfica a Jagger y Richards, que llegaría hasta el quinto lugar en las listas de éxitos de los Estados Unidos, que resultaría ser el último éxito principal de los Rolling Stones en dicho país. La gira Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle Tour, que terminó a mediados de 1990, fue un enorme éxito financiero. En 1990, FOX emitió un especial de televisión en 3D de la gira de Steel Wheels.
